Busy

Christmas is less than a week away! The boys are so excited!
Andrew is in a hockey tournament between Christmas and New years. I was not able to take time off work next week so I will take a couple days off during the first week of January. Maybe we'll go away for a day or two.
Bob has been busy working on our ice rink in the backyard. Unfortunately, this unseasonably warm weather is delaying our first skate! But I'm not complaining! We'll see what happens.

It's been too long!

Wow, I'll try to keep up with this blog from now on! Here's what's been happening:

On November 12th, Mama passed away. The boys still ask me almost everyday, why she had to go. We miss her alot. But we have many good memories and lots of pictures...she will always be remembered and we will talk about her often.

The boys are busy with hockey. Nathan has skills (skating) class on Fridays, then he has practice Saturday and games are on Sundays. Andrew is usually on the ice two or 3 times a week. He has a tournament next weekend and then another between Christmas and New Years.

Both of them are doing really well in school. We received their progress reports last week and they were both excellent. Nathan's teacher wrote "Nathan brings energy and humour to the class" but then she said "even though he has the ability to have self control, he can set the rest of the class into giggles and off task behaviour". Oh well...it could be worse.

Can't believe how quickly Christmas is coming! I will try to update this blog more often from now on. Even if there isn't really much going on.

Update

Wow, I haven't been a very good blogger lately! Lets get caught up.

Trailer season is coming to an end. We may get up there one or two more times before we shut everything down. We had a good time up there this summer. We had some friends up, grandma and papa came for a visit (we'll get Mike and Gary up there next year - our trailer is alot nicer than the ones at Darien Lake, honest!)we bought a boat, did some renovations on our lot and the kids just couldn't get enough!

Andrew is in Grade 3 and Nathan is in Grade 2. They are enjoying school...they missed seeing their friends over the summer.

Soccer is finished and the boys are happy about that. They never really enjoyed it so I don't think they will join again next year.

Weekends are busy now that hockey season has started. Andrew had his first practice yesterday and he is already in a tournament this weekend.

Nathan tried out for the Select team last week. He went to tryouts Wednesday, Thursday and Friday...but didn't make the team. That's ok, this is his first year of house league hockey so we didn't expect him to make the team. He skated really well though, I was surprised! Nathan will start hockey this weekend and it will be every Saturday and Sunday mornings (sometimes as early as 7:00 - not sure if he's going to like that. He enjoys his sleep.)

Last weekend Bob and I were in San Francisco while the grandparents helped watch the boys for us. We were only there from Friday until Sunday. We love that city and want to go back! I would have loved to see Napa Valley but we just didn't have enough time. We did get to see alot of the city though in the two days we were there. We went to Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, took a boat under the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz, rode the cable cars, went on a half day city tour, ate really good food and walked for miles. We stayed at the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins hotel which was a beautiful hotel right downtown (I will add pictures tomorrow - for some reason, it won't let me right now).

That's it for now...will try to update more often.

Trailer

Bob and I came home from the trailer today. Bob was there for 2 weeks, I was there for a week and a half. That's a long time for me, didn't think I could do it. But the girls went to Ste. Annes spa one day which was great and I came home to golf one day, so I did get a couple of breaks in there.

The kids are still there with Grammie and Grandpa. They've been up there for 2 weeks and are not ready to come home yet!

We had a corn and ribfest, lobsterfest, salmonfest...this morning there was a pancake breakfast. We ate well that's for sure. The kids had a good time together. We brought our projector so they played Wii outside and also watched a movie. They had dance parties almost every night. Everyone says that Andrew and Nathan are by far the best dancers there! I have to admit, they do have some really good moves.

Nathan had the tooth fairy visit the trailer twice in one week!

It's back to work tomorrow for me. Bob is on his third week of vacation.

Weekend

We bought a boat! It's a 2003 18 ft Mariah. Bob and the kids picked it up on Saturday morning and then took it to the trailer. I golfed on Saturday morning and then brought mom and dad up to the trailer for a visit. They stayed for one night. Before we had dinner with Bob's parents, we all went for a ride in the boat.

On Sunday morning, we drove the boat into town and had breakfast. Our friends would always take us out in their boats but it's nice to have our own now!

Other stuff: The kids are going to daycare for 3 weeks, then Bob will take vacation. Andrew had to get a tooth pulled on Thursday (the freezing part hurt but he was fine after that). They are playing soccer once a week still and seem to be enjoying it.

Weekend

We went up to the trailer on Friday evening. Wish the weather would improve...rained on and off most of Saturday. Came home this morning for the kid's soccer team pictures, then went to a birthday party for one of Andrew's friends (there was an above ground pool which was freezing, but they didn't care), then went to see Cars 2. I had heard there were mixed reviews about the movie but I thought it was pretty good. Some new characters which is great for marketing.

Last day of school is on Wednesday. Wow, this year flew by. So glad I won't have to pack lunches for a couple of months.

Darien Lake

We spent this past weekend at Darien Lake. We stayed in the not so clean trailers for 2 nights. Andrew says "ewww...I wish we had our own trailer here". Some of our friends came too. We rented 6 trailers all together.

The weather was perfect!! Nathan was able to go on most of the bigger rides so he went on a few large roller coasters. One of the roller coasters turns you upside down 5 times (similar to the Dragon Fire at Wonderland). I wasn't sure how he would do on that one but after it was over he said "that was awesome!"
Bob and I love roller coasters so it was kind of cool to be able to go on these rides with the kids now. The water park was fun. We went on some pretty good water slides!

It was a fun weekend, all the kids (and adults) had a great time.

First wipeout of the season!

Andrew went on a school trip last week and ended up having a trip of his own! He said he fell down a step...one step. Looks like he fell down more than just one step! Anyway, he's fine.

Disney!

The whole family went to Disney for 5 days! It was really hot and sunny everyday. We had a great time. The cousins really enjoyed hanging out together everyday, especially at the pool! We stayed right on the Disney grounds at the Pop Century Resort and took the bus everywhere. Rooms were small, beds were small but we didn't really spend much time in the rooms so it was ok. The food was mediocre..we tried to eat somewhat healthy each day but that was almost impossible. The best meal I had was at Epcot in the Japanese pavillion...udon and sushi. It was so good!

We went to a park each day which kept us really busy. Wish we could have had more days down there so that we could have taken a bit of a break. Andrew and Nathan loved the shopping...especially at the Lego store. Lots of great memories made during our trip! Maybe we'll do it again next year? Cruise? With a casino on board Dad?

Weekend

Weekend was good. Friday night I took mom out for dinner for mother's day/birthday. Bob and the boys were up at the trailer. Saturday morning I went golfing with the ladies. It's a group of ladies that I used to golf with years ago and then took a few years off. Sunday we all went out for lunch and then to the Blue Jays game to celebrate Grandpa's 75th birthday! The weather was perfect. Andrew and Nathan lasted the entire game which surprised me. It was a fun day!

Weekend

Andrew had tryouts for the single A hockey team this weekend (Friday, Saturday and today). He made the team! Yeah! So hockey is finally over now until September. He may take power skating lessons but no organized hockey through the summer for him. Andrew and Nathan are both going to try soccer.

I went out with my friends last night for dinner and then to a comedy show. It was really funny. Today Nathan went to a birthday party. While he was at the party, we went shopping and bought some shelves and organized the storage room in the basement. That was a big job...looks great now!

Nathan

Nathan finally learned how to ride a bike tonight! He's been trying to learn for awhile now but kept getting really frustrated and would give up so easily. But tonight he was determined to get through it and kept trying...and he did it!

Finally a post!

I know, I've been slacking with my posts.

What have we been up to? Andrew is still going through the tryout process for hockey. He did not make it onto the AA team (he was quite upset about that...poor kid. So much pressure for an 8 year old!). He will be trying out for the single A team this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Good luck Andrew!

We went to the trailer for a couple of days last week. It is not officially trailer season yet but we managed to get a special pass for a couple of nights. A couple of other families were up there too. Andrew and Nathan love it there. They are looking forward to spending a lot of time there this summer.

We came home on Saturday afternoon. Had to get ready for our Easter get together on Sunday! We did not do the traditional turkey and ham, instead we did a bbq. It was so nice out on Sunday...perfect day for a bbq! The kids had alot of fun together. Nathan loves to hang with Jacob, Selena and Andrew get along well, Mya and Julia are best buds, and Emily...she's just everyone's friend!

I did not take any pictures that day...darn.
