Vacation

Bob and the boys were up at the trailer for 2 weeks, I was up for one.  We had good weather except for a couple of days.  It was sunny most days, not too hot.  We spent hours in the boat!  We had some friends come up to visit for a few days.  It was nice to have the time off work...now it's back to normal!  The boys are at church camp this week.

Happy Canada Day!

Hope everyone had a great long weekend!  We celebrated Canada's 146th birthday at the trailer with lots of friends.  One of our friends celebrated her first Canada day as a Canadian!  So of course, that was another reason to celebrate!

I can't believe the kids are already finished school!  Their report cards were really good.
The plans for them this summer are:  a couple of camps, maybe spending time at the trailer during the week (with Grammie and Grandpa), Bob and I will have some vacation time, our neighbour will watch them for a few days here and there, and maybe some days with Grandma and Papa.  Hoping to keep them busy...I really don't want to hear "I'm bored" too soon!!

Update

Wow, I am not good at keeping this blog updated!   What's happened in the last couple of months....we went on a cruise in May.  The whole family went (15 of us), it was alot of fun.  I really enjoy cruising and would do it again for sure.  I won't post pictures here because I already did on Facebook.

Last weekend we were at Darien Lake.  This year we decided to upgrade so we stayed in the cabins.  They were small but they were fine...we shared our cabin with our friends Sue and Drew and their 2 girls.  It didn't feel crowded at all because we were outside most of the time.  There were 7 families that went together this year...it was nice to hang out with my girlfriends for the weekend since we don't see each other that much anymore.  The weather was ok...rained on and off Saturday but Sunday was beautiful.  We'll all go back again next year and probably stay in the cabins again.

We have been going to the trailer as much as we can but we have been busy on the weekends.  Also the weather hasn't been great.  This weekend I won't be going up because Andrew has a hockey team outing on Friday evening and then he's going to a birthday party on Saturday.  Bob and I have plans to go downtown on Saturday night.  Bob and Nathan might get up to the trailer for one night.

We want to wish Selena a very happy 13th birthday today!  She is a teenager now!!  Woo hoo!! 

Nathan's team lost in the Bronze medal game.  Andrew's team lost in the finals but they did receive a Silver trophy.  Andrew scored yesterday and got another goal today.  The hockey games are over for the season!  What a long season it was, but both boys had alot of fun this year...and Bob really enjoyed coaching.  He will be coaching the Minor Atom AE team next year.  Although the games are done, tryouts will start on April 20th!

This week the boys have been busy in a local hockey tournament.  Andrew's team is in the semi-finals tomorrow morning and Nathan's team is going for bronze tomorrow afternoon.  Hopefully one of them can win!

In between games today, Nathan's team got together for their year end party.  There was a big road hockey game with the boys and the dads.  They had alot of fun!  Everyone is sad that tomorrow will be their last game together as a team.  Bob really enjoyed coaching.  The kids were great, as were the parents.  The parents will be getting together a couple more times this month! 

April!

Wow, time flies!  It's already April!
Easter weekend was busy.  Nathan's team was in the playoffs against Napanee....they lost in the finals and received a silver medal.  Unfortunately we missed Easter dinner at Mike and Sheryl's.

The boys hunted for Easter eggs around the house on Sunday and then decorated some eggs.  Both boys had hockey practice on Sunday afternoon.  No breaks from hockey on Easter weekend!

It's been over a month since I posted!

Update:  Nathan's team is in the finals vs. Napanee.  The series will start on Saturday.  First team to 6 points wins.  The team is playing really well together (coach Bob is very proud of his team!).  Andrew's team was knocked out by Peterborough last weekend, but they also played very well.  Hockey isn't over yet though...they are still having hockey practices to get ready for a local tournament during the first weekend in April.  And then tryouts begin April 20th!

The boys were skating on our rink on Friday.  Nice to still be able to use the rink halfway through March!

March break was relaxing for them...they didn't really feel like doing much.  I took the day off on Monday to do something with them but they just wanted to stay home.  They invited some friends over.  I had a couple of half days booked off during the rest of the week but I cancelled them.  No point in using my vacation if they just want to stay in!

Andrew has entered a Lego contest.  Here's a picture of his creation which we downloaded onto the Lego website.  The judging will take place at the end of the month and the criteria that they are judging on are "overall coolness, a design that people will purchase, colour scheme, relationship between age and design...."  Of course he really wants to win but there are some really creative kids out there!  Winner will get a trophy and some Lego sets autographed by the designer.  You will hear about it if he wins!

This is how Nathan went down the hill most of the time...

It was another nice sunny day today. I took the boys over to a local school so they could do some tobagganing. Andrew saw a couple of kids from his class there. It was fun but very tiring walking up the hill so many times. Nathan doesn't sit down on his sled properly so he ends up going down sideways and gets snow down his jacket and boots! Freaks out.

Snow, Snow and more SNOW!!!

The boys are loving the snow!!! What a mess our streets were though...some guy was driving around on his snowmobile. Our streets were finally cleared this morning at 3:30. I'm sure everyone is getting their exercise in by having to shovel 3, 4, 5 times!

Hockey Hair again

Playoffs are starting this weekend for Nathan's team. They are in Kingston on Saturday. Andrew's team got beat out by Whitby so now they are in the consolation round against Pickering. That will start next week. They got "hockey hair" again. This time we went to a different place where the guys were able to shave the logo and their numbers onto their heads. Much better than their last cut! We had Nathan's team over last weekend (parents and kids). That was fun. Nice to socialize outside of the rink. We're having another get together with this team next Saturday at one of parent's house (no kids this time!). I have found that hockey parents are very social. Uncle Mike would hate it...good thing Julia isn't interested in playing hockey, so far. I can see Emily maybe wanting to give it a shot though!

Awards

Weekend was good. Nathan had games in Port Perry and Napanee. He scored a goal in each game and they won both games! Nathan's goal in Napanee was the game winner (the final score was 1-0) and it was shorthanded. Great work Nathan! Andrew's team is playing against Whitby in the semi-final round. Last night they lost 4-0. Whitby is the number one team and I can see why. Saturday night 9 of us went to see Blue Rodeo. It was a fun night and a great show. The boys both received awards at school yesterday for "Optimism"!
